Grand Harbor - Valletta September 2014
A Malta sailing vacation unfolds in a wondrous part of the Mediterranean. The complex history of Malta is almost impossible to comprehend. Malta's history is one of conquest and colonizers. It's strategic position in the Mediterranean, in between Europe and Africa, half way Gibraltar and the Middle East made it a perfect stronghold for the consecutive colonizers. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the Arabs, the Angevins, the Aragonese, the Knights of Saint John and the British were amongst them - all with just one goal: to control the middle of the Mediterranean.
Traces of these cultures can still be found in Malta. Phoenician tombs are still quite numerous throughout the island. The Roman Villa and several Roman and early Christian catacombs in Rabat can be visited. The ancient city of Mdina bears traces of its Arab past (as does the place name itself). The capital city of Valletta is an open history book on the era of the Knights of St. John. And the British influence is obvious as well: left hand driving, British phone booths, it's all there! Sailing in and around Malta is like stepping back in time. Diverse culture, history, food and more is an every day discovery on a sailing trip through Malta. Join us on this very special trip!

Lost a dear friend and inspiration to me this month.......Bob you influenced my life.
I lost a dear dear sailing friend last week......I met Capt Bob Evans many moons ago and to some extent he change my life. I pursued my passion of sailing and for better or worse sometimes it totally changed my life in many ways. I continued on to sail because of him, managed a club, became an instructor and USCG captain, bought boats, sold boats, bought his sailing company which has been mine for almost 15 years - its really hard to fathom. He brought so many of us together and for this we should all be happy and thankful. We have shared many many sailing adventures together - some fun, some scary as hell, some breathtakingly gorgeous, some adventurous - but ALL amazing in their own amazing way. He has moved on to the big ocean in the sky and somehwere I know bob is holding a beautiful glass of wine, watching the sunset on the water and reflecting on what a kick ass life he had. We love you Bob......keep on sailing. Love, Capt Stacey

November 2008
Dear Captain Stacey & Captain Mike,
When we arrived on Tortola to join Seadog Sailing I had been away from the sport for over twenty years and my husband had only sailed one day, on our honeymoon in St. Lusia. That one day had hooked us, we wanted our own boat, but we knew we had a hell of a lot to learn before we set off on our own. I can't tell you how impressed we where with our week aboard. Your enthusiasm, instruction and guidance made us want to learn more and more, to get up earlier and to sail longer. We not only learned how to sail, but how to sail safely. For me it was a great confidence boost - I had not forgotten how to sail! And my husband was a natural. We can't stop talking about our trip, and would highly recommend Seadog sailing to anyone who wants to learn to sail safely and with confidence! Thank you for an amazing week with a fantastic group of people!
