About Sea Dog Sailing

Captain Stacey Connolly Welcomes you aboard!

CAPTAIN STACEY CONNOLLY has a genuine love for teaching, and is looking forward to sharing the beauty of the British Virgin Islands with you. Holding a 100 Ton USCG Merchant Marine Officer License and current STCW for operation in international waters and with extensive experience to boot, Stacey managed one of the largest sailing clubs in the southeast, watching over a fleet of 30 boats and 500 club members. She has also sailed the waters of Corsica, New Zealand, United States, France, Italy, Spain, England, Greece, Croatia, Tahiti, Turks and Caicos and the entire Caribbean chain to Grenada. Throughout Stacey's lifetime she has lived (and sailed!) more than 8 years in Europe — including living several years in Germany, working for three years in London, and living/studying in France for two and a half years. She is greatly looking forward to sharing the wonders of these magical British Virgin Islands with you on your learning sailing vacation with Sea Dog Sailing!

Captain Stacey lives in Colorado and when she is not teaching in different venues around the world she works for the events/competition department at Breckenridge Ski Resort as well as managing the Summer Junior Sailing Program on Lake Dillon - the highest lake in North America with an altitude of 10,000 feet.

Mike Green

Mike grew up on the waters of South Jersey lifeguarding, surfing and sailing Sunfish and Hobie Cats. His first cruising experience was with Seadog Sailing in 2000 with Captain Stacey. Since then, he has gone on to sail with Seadog in the British and Spanish Virgin Islands, Anguilla, and St. Martin, and has served as first mate for Seadog trips off the coasts of Spain and Greece. Mike is looking forward to acting as first mate in Greece again this fall and in Tahiti next year.

Mike has sailed offshore passages from Ft. Lauderdale to Tortola, Bermuda to Antigua and across the Indian Ocean from Bundaberg, Australia to Mauritius, off the coast of Madagascar. Mike is looking forward to sailing his own boat from South Jersey to Tortola this fall via Bermuda.

Mike has a background in education, and has taught middle school and high school math and science in Philadelphia public schools. Because of this, he has developed a unique understanding of the teaching and learning process. Mike trusts in a hands-on approach to learning, and believes in adjusting his teaching style to each person’s needs and abilities.

Mike holds a USCG captain’s license, and is certified to teach ASA 101, 103, 104 and 105. He has captained teaching boats on Seadog trips in the BVI, and is eager to captain a second boat this fall. Mike is excited to help you discover the love of sailing that he’s found with Seadog Sailing.

Captain Tim Amidon

Captain Tim Amidon began sailing and racing in the Golden Isles of Georgia in 1978. Following that he acquired a wide variety of sailing experiences logging thousands of miles delivering sailing vessels to and from the Caribbean as well as along the east coast of the US. Tim feels at home in the Caribbean having visited the Windward Islands, Leeward Islands and the American, British and French Virgin Islands as both instructor and charter captain. An avid racer, Tim has participated in sailing regattas for many years both locally, on Lake Lanier near his home town of Atlanta Georgia and offshore, island hopping/racing in bluewater. Tim acquired his USCG Captain¹s License in 1999 and has been an ASA sailing instructor for four years. A true water enthusiast, Tim is also a PADI Divemaster SCUBA diver. He balances these interests with work ashore as a merger and small business consultant. Tim says, "There is nothing like the look on a student¹s face when they experience the incredible wind, gorgeous water and fantastic sailing in the British Virgin Islands"! He is ready to take you to the "Honor Bar" at Sidney¹s in the quiet anchorage of Little Harbour on Jost Van Dyke, the incredible view from the overlook on Virgin Gorda and have Alex fix you a secret libation at sunset on Cow Wreck Beach on Anegada. He is looking forward to seeing you at the helm soon.
